The 2008 US Open went down as one for the ages...it was arguably the best US Open ever. Tiger Woods tied Rocco Mediate on the 18th hole on Sunday with a 12 foot birdie putt and the crowd erupted. As if that wasn't enough, Tiger and Rocco ended up tying again after the 18 hole playoff...again by a Tiger birdie on 18. Rocco eventually was defeated by Tiger on the first sudden death playoff hole after hitting his drive in the bunker and his 2nd shot into the bleachers.
And what is even more amazing, Tiger won this tournament with a torn ACL in his knee and 2 stress fractures in his leg...I guess he wasn't faking his injury and playing it up like I originally thought.

What made this tournament the best of them all though? The Murphy Men were at the tourney!! Many memories to be detailed in a future post...but some highlights include Padres/Dodgers game, 1527 Olympics (only 1 bloody nose), 6:45am volunteer shifts, sore feet, the "old" guy holding down the dressing room, 5 days of US Open golf, 2 rounds of the playing golf, meeting up with old friends (Tom Mullin and Casey Keltner), stumbling across some tremendous restaurants thanks to Nancy, avoiding "el perro" as a main course, lots of laughs, and yes, lots of tasty cold beverages. More details to follow in Father Murphy's detailed log.
DAD - What happened to your bed? ESM practicing for the Beijing Olympics?
Mike - I don't think you can count that high!

I am still recovering from jet lag, so more details to follow in the coming days...
